Stepney Green Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Save Our Stepney Task Force (SOS) along with Frosty the Snowman will light up the Stepney Green with more than 300 luminaries and the holiday tree will be decorated with over 500 LED bulbs.

Members of Save Our Stepney Task Force, the Stepney Volunteer Fire Company, The Stepney Baptist Church and Frosty the Snowman are collaborating in celebrating of the 15th Annual Tree Lighting.

The First Selectman will welcome the community to the annual event. All will be treated to holiday music performed by the Just Voices Singers, a reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," Monroe Boy Scout Troop 62 will provide fresh made donuts and members of the Shriner's Clowns will make balloons for the children. Reverend Kevin Merritt, of the Stepney Baptist Church, invites all attendees to a carol sing in the newly renovated Stepney Baptist Church, immediately following the tree lighting. Hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies will be served.

Frosty the Snowman will make a special appearance aboard a Stepney Volunteer Fire Company truck to flip the tree light switch ushering in the holiday season and photo opps with Frosty will be available for your holiday cards. Candy canes and glow sticks will be given to all. Non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Stepney Baptist Church food pantry.
